Screening
A fundamental process in waste management and water treatment, essential for separating materials based on size to improve efficiency and sustainability.
About This Process
Screening is a fundamental process in waste management and water treatment, essential for separating materials based on size. At Duromech®, we offer advanced screening solutions designed to improve efficiency and sustainability in various industrial applications.
Screening in waste management involves the separation of waste materials based on their size. This process helps in creating various final products, removing refuse material, reducing fines generation, and minimizing crusher size. Screening is crucial for efficient waste management, ensuring that materials are appropriately sorted for recycling, composting, or disposal.
Types of Screening
Coarse Screening
Removes large debris such as rags, sticks, and plastics from wastewater or waste streams. This is typically the first stage of the screening process.
Fine Screening
Captures smaller particles and solids that pass through coarse screens. Essential for removing smaller solids and particles that coarse screens cannot capture, enhancing overall treatment efficiency.
Micro Screening
Targets very small particles, often used in advanced water treatment facilities. Provides the highest level of filtration in the screening process.
Trommel Screening
Uses rotating cylindrical drums with perforated screens to separate materials by size. Widely used in MSW processing and composting operations.
Disc Screening
Employs rotating disc elements to separate materials based on size and shape. Highly effective for separating 2D materials (paper, film) from 3D materials (bottles, cans).
Vibrating Screens
Use vibration to separate and classify materials by size. Available in various configurations for different applications in mining, construction, and waste processing.
Screening Process
Influent / Material Intake
The incoming water or waste material contains various impurities and mixed-size particles that need to be separated.
Coarse Screening
The first stage of screening removes large debris such as rags, sticks, plastics, and other bulky materials.
Fine Screening
The second stage captures smaller particles and solids, providing an additional level of filtration.
Micro Screening
The final stage removes very fine particles, ensuring the material or water is clean and ready for the next processing step.
Effluent / Sorted Output
The treated water is discharged or further processed, and sorted materials are directed to appropriate recycling or disposal streams.
